REVIEW: CRATE Brewery Best Bitter

Hackney Wick, London, UK

CRATE Brewery opened up in summer 2012, just in time for the Olympics in London. Located in Hackney Wick it’s also located not too far from the Olympic park and sells pizza, pretty rad. Located in The White Building CRATE Brewery is a unique experience mixing craft beer and stone baked pizza, the absolute dream.

CRATE Brewery conjure up a selection of tasty beers including the CRATE Lager, Golden Ale, Stout, IPA and Best Bitter. The Best Bitter is dark and has a really full flavour. Aged 22 having only experienced Carlsberg I found myself drinking Newcastle Brown Ale and my head was turned to dark ales and I can see a little bit of Newcy Brown in CRATE Brewery’s Best Bitter. It is delicious, smooth and is definitely best served cold, like the dark staff from Newcastle.

The tasting notes state, “A classic full-bodied bitter, with biscuity malt and delicate hop flavours.”  It is exactly that. Dark in colour it is full of malt, hops and has that strong kick to boot. It is a delicious beer and has made me want to try the whole CRATE Brewery range. Job well done guys.
