I visited the Meantime Brewing Company back in April as a late birthday present and got to meet the infamous “Big Al”. If you’ve been on the tour you’ll know exactly who I’m talking about, if you haven’t been on the tour then you must visit! As it was my birthday Big Al treated me to my favourite Meantime beer, when he asked me I shouted “Yakima Red” to which he said, “YES! Get this man a YAK.” Big Al is in agreement with me that Meantime’s best beer is the Yakima Red.

Meantime are one of the biggest producers of craft beer in the London and the UK and for me one of the most well respected and trustworthy breweries around. When you walk into a pub and you see the Meantime logo you know you are bound to get a good beer. Any variety of Meantime beers is worth a try however it is the Yakima Red that stands out for me. Along with Black IPA and APA’s red ale is the beer that I most crave when I’m in a pub. Largely thanks to the Yakima Red which is one of my favourite beers.

It is rich in flavour and has a really fruity aroma when you give it a smell. It is dark, smooth and really refreshing. There is a whole lot of love that goes into producing a Yakima Red. Your looking at a mixture of British and German malts along with five different American hops. That is some blend. A blend they’ve perfected into one of the most interesting and tastiest beers you’ll ever find.

The Yak, as Big Al calls it never disappoints.
