When I’m asked what my favourite brewery is my thoughts usually go towards the likes of Pressure Drop, Five Points, Partizan but my overall champion is Beavertown Brewery. I’ve written more reviews of their beers than any other breweries and the reason is because I love all the beers they make. I famously said 8 Ball Rye IPA is my all-time favourite beer and the only beer I’ve ever given 5 to on Untappd. My average rating of Beavertown beers on the aforementioned app is over 4/5 so that tells you something.
I’ve made no secret of confessing my love for IPA so when I heard about the Beavertown Blood Orange IPA I was ridiculously excited. So much so I was checking Beavertown’s Twitter page and Ales by Mail / Beer Merchants etc for arrival date. I finally got my hands on some lovely cans and got stuck in. The beer pours a lovely gorgeous glowing orange colour with a two finger creamy foam head. It smells unbelievably good, with loads of citrus and hops.

The taste? Well it is WAY better than I was expecting. It is the type of beer with every sip a little part of gets sad because I know it is coming to an end. Is that a sign I’m an alcoholic? Not sure. But I know I am addicted to Beavertown’s Bloody ‘Ell Orange IPA. A month or so back I called Camden Town’s India Hells Lager a game changer and my beer of the year (so far). Now, I stick by that but I would say this beer goes very close to being one of the best beers I’ve ever had. It certainly has become my favourite Beavertown beer.
