REVIEW: Beavertown Lemon Phantom

A few weeks ago I visited the Beavertown Brewery for the first time and fell in love with some new beers by the brewery founded by Logan Plant. These beers were completely out of my norm for beers. When it comes to Beavertown I stay safe and stick with Gamma Ray or 8 Ball. But this time I was feeling like experiment and went with a couple of sour beers. A beer type I’m not completely sold on. Yet.

REVIEW: Beavertown Skull King

Beavertown Brewery

It is a close call between Pressure Drop and Beavertown for the best brewery in London in my opinion. However with the recent arrivals of Beavertown’s cans plus Bloody ‘Ell IPA I’m leaning towards the Tottenham based brewery.

When I’m asked what my favourite brewery is my thoughts usually go towards the likes of Pressure Drop, Five Points, Partizan but my overall champion is Beavertown Brewery. I’ve written more reviews of their beers than any other breweries and the reason is because I love all the beers they make. I famously said 8 Ball Rye IPA is my all-time favourite beer and the only beer I’ve ever given 5 to on Untappd. My average rating of Beavertown beers on the aforementioned app is over 4/5 so that tells you something.

REVIEW: Beavertown Holy Cowbell

Back in summer Beavertown, formerly based in Hackney moved to Tottenham to a larger unit to increase their output. They’ve also started distributing more cans of their beers around London and further afield. I’ve reviewed the Smog Rocket and Black Betty in can form recently on here. Let’s not forget that I called the 8 Ball Rye IPA one of the best beers ever created, or something too. So to say I’m a fan of Beavertown would be an understatement.

I’ve almost reviewed ALL of the Beavertown range now and if you care to see what I think of Gamma Ray, 8 Ball and Black Betty then tab away. If you can’t be arsed to look then let’s just say I fucking loved them (scores were 4, 5, 5). I decided to do something different with the Smog Rocket. As I mentioned in my review of Black Betty Beavertown have recently smashed their production of canned beers and now they’re everywhere.

A lot has changed since the last time I wrote about Beavertown, for one we’re in the midst of a heatwave in the UK but more importantly Beavertown have upped their craft beer game. Moving from the Hackney unit the brewery founded by Logan Plant (yes, son of Robert) to a bigger place in Tottenham Beavertown have opened up a tap room (go visit it) and rolled out their beers in cans.

REVIEW: Beavertown 8 Ball

Beavertown 8-Ball

Founded in 2011 in Hackney, it’s named Beavertown because centuries ago Hackney was apparently called Beavertown. I previously gave Gamma Ray a glowing review here, with an overall of 5, probably one of the highest reviews thus far. How would the Rye IPA compare? Pretty fucking well.
