I love Weird Beard and never been disappointed by the couple of beers I’ve tried by them so far. I’ve previously had their American IPA, called Five O’Clock Shadow which I absolutely loved and reviewed here. So, when the London beer mix I purchased from Ales by Mail included a Double IPA titled Holy Hoppin’ Hell arrived I was chuffed (UNDERSTATEMENT).

This may be a generalisation but MOST microbreweries in London are either based in east or south London but west London is popping up with some great beer. I’ve previously loved everything Weird Beard have produced and now my new brewery love is Moncada Brewery. Based in W10 around the Kensal area they have a core range of 5 beers including the Notting Hill Amber.

The Weird Beard story is a fantastic one and gives all us aspiring brewers hope for the future. The brewery was founded in west London by Gregg and Bryan following some experimental with home brewing. The pair won various prizes both at local and national level coupled with great feedback from beer geeks they decided to go pro. I’m delighted they did too.
