Any beer that has an affiliation with Hunter S. Thompson is going to be one I love. Flying Dog has been one of my favourite breweries for a while. Born way back in 1990 by George Stranahan and Richard McIntyre the brewery was actually founded in Colorado. Hunter S. Thomson introduced George to Ralph Steadman who went on to create the artwork for the beers in the early 90s. This is a brewery steeped in glory, history and a name adored by craft beer fans worldwide.

I’ve thus far enjoyed the award-winning pale ale Doggie Style along with Easy IPA, Raging Bitch and Snake Dog. I’m finding myself drinking more lager recently, largely down to breweries like Meantime, Camden and other American big breweries making so many great lagers. Camden’s IHL has changed my perception of lager and Camden Hells Lager is a fantastic lager, one of the best on the market. This Atlantic Lager pours very golden and has a very hoppy aroma.

Taste wise it is very crisp, refreshing and hoppy. It is very easy to drink and taster MUCH better than ALL your standard lagers. It manages to avoid that horrible metallic taste a lot of lagers give you and the after taste is very palatable, smooth and hoppy. A brilliant lager. The type of beer I’d drink multiple pints of in the summer.
